Salt Lake City
Police shot a dog in private, fenced and gated backyard on June 18, 2014
when the police were searching for an allegedly missing child. No
evidence was provided that the child was on this property. The child was
later found in his own home asleep. We are asking for the officer who
shot and killed Geist to be held accountable for the inappropriate use
of power and for the Salt Lake City Police Department to re-train
officers on how to interact with dogs. Firearms should be used as last
resort not the first. Please like us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/JusticeforGeist and visit our YouTube page at http://tinyurl.com/youtube4geist .
I demand the police officer who killed the dog, Geist, be held accountable for using excessive force and request that all Salt Lake officers be retrained on how to deal with dog encounters.
